
HIGHLIGHTS
- In the first half of the tour, participants will get a sense of what the Kamikawa Aynu are, what their way of thinking was, and where they lived, thereby helping them to better understand the meaning of “living with Kamuy.”
- In the second half of the tour, participants will learn about the mountain worshiped by the Kamikawa Aynu from a geo perspective at the visitor’s center, and by connecting this to a hike, they will be able to experience the value of geo x Aynu.
TOUR ITINERARY
DAY 1
09:30 Meet at JR Asahikawa Station+briefing
10:15/12:15 Walk around Arashiyama (Aynu Cultural Forest, Traditional Kotan)
12:30/15:30 Kaneto Aynu Memorial Museum (lunch + experience)
16:45 Stay in Sounkyo (1 night, 2 meals included)

DAY 2
8:30 Leave the hotel (on foot)
8:40/14:30 Climb Mt. Kurodake from the 7th station
*Lunch at the summit (guide provided)
14:30/15:00 Sounkyo Visitor Center
(explanation of the relationship between mountains and the Aynu from a geo-perspective)
16:15 Arrive at JR Asahikawa Station
